Deep Bhattacharya is probably the only saving grace of this film, which becomes somewhat tolerable in the second half. Barring the lead actor Deep Bhattacharya, the supporting cast overacts, making the film look unintentionally funny. Life of swami vivekananda. ![]() Refer to the Airelectric, Inc. The apparatus is also caused to determine a representation of a location indicated. I bought this old altimeter at an estate sale a while back and I'm trying to find information on it. I've exhausted all the Google Fu I can muster and have to come any closer than when I started. It sits in a leather pocket case, face shows maximum altitude of 3000meters, with a window showing altitude in feet. The case of the altimeter itself is black metal, with a single knurled knob on the top. There are no markings anywhere on the sides or back of the altimeter. Any information would be greatly appreciated! Well I dug around a little bit and I have the original box and papers, I'll see If I can find my pamphlet thing I've got too. Take a couple of photos. If you know your altitude you can set your needle to it and as the needle then moves up or down from that elevation you can see the changes in air pressure thus giving you some data about current weather, track this and you can see trends in the weather, watch the clouds precipitation, and wind and you can get pretty good with 6 to 12 hour forecasts. Set it to 700ft with the knob. Full rotation of the dial is 3000 ft. Once around the small window will have a 3 in it and needle will be at 0. Around again, a 6 in window etc.probably to 15000 ft.maybe to 21000 ft depending on model. Reset needle with knob at every KNOWN altitude to recalibrate for atmospheric changes. At camp in evening note altitude.changes in morning indicate atmospheric changes.higher pressure system comes in, camp decreased in altitude.lower pressure system--camp gained altitude.use to predict weather for day. Reset to known altitude before leaving camp. Great instruments. Use to follow contour lines, as a second or third point in locating position on a map. Altimeters work on barometric pressure so you can loss or gain a 100 feet as a storm front moves trhoug, the sun comes up and warms up the air. When you go out look for signs with altitude on them. Know the altitude of varies land marks, find bench marks. The know lets you adjust the dial to what the relative altitude is. For Navigation it can help if you want to follow a contour line. Or let you know your at the right spot on a map. Your GPS altitude is not that accurate +/- 100 feet it depends upon the satellite constilation. You can also use the altimeter as a baramoter. I bought one of mine in the 80's for over $200. Mine is of a different design (newer maybe), without knob and with barometric pressure readouts also. I also found one for a few bucks in a junk shop.they thought it was an odd barometer. Your model looks to be in great shape and Thommen was (is) a superb quality instrument maker, so price could be still quite high.though most land navigators of less than 2 score and 10 would likely not find much use for one with their hand permanently bonded to, and their nose pressed close to their cell phone nav app. Here's a few photos of mine. I have 'The Sportsman's Altimeter/Barometer' pamphlet around here somewhere?? Last time I saw it I say's to myself, ' hey that's kinda small and easy to loose' so I put it in a 'safe place' The pamphlet is still in its safe place but I'll find it again eventually.maybe. I bought my Thommen while living in Colorado. Yea it was over $250 if I remember right. I found it very useful in the mountains with a topo map. Better than a compass on most days. The trails were pretty easy to follow but finding ones exact location could be a challenge. With the altimeter and topo, one could get pretty good information to orient yourself to your location. I still use mine a bit now and then, still a useful tool. Blue ring is meter conversion scale.my more recent Thommen model with blue ring is one I do not have the manual for. My earlier version does not have this conversion scale. I have been unable to determine what model or age your altimeter is.I would guess pre 1970's, before the TX model series as mjh shows as well as are referenced in the Backpacker article teotwaki linked. It may or may not be temperature compensated. If you can see in the little dial hole what number appears to the left that would indicate max altitude (12, it would be a 15,000 ft model). Contact Peet Brothers might be in order as they were distributors in the 70's. Old model like this is interesting, though the TX series look to be more capable models with barometric scales and 20 ft resolution. Nice find.calibrate to your elevation and take it for a walk! The blue ring is the face of the body of the altimeter and the black-on-white scale is labeled for 0 to 1000 meters. Free full version offline games. On the sides of the black plastic are two cutouts that allow the user to rotate the body and thus rotate the scale for calibration with the red needle's position.
